Curved Bands

A curved band is shaped to follow the profile of an engagement ring instead of sitting flat against it. If your ring has a low-set solitaire, a cathedral shoulder or a halo that drops below the band line, a straight band will leave a visible wedge of space underneath. A contoured band closes it.

The degree of curve matters. A gentle sweep suits most solitaires; a deeper notch is needed for a pronounced halo or a large centre stone that sits close to the finger. If you are unsure, the shape of the gap when you hold a straight edge against your ring tells you which you need.
