Cushion Engagement Rings

A cushion cut is a square or slightly rectangular stone with rounded corners — the shape of a pillow, which is where the name comes from. It is one of the oldest cuts still in regular production, and it produces a softer, warmer fire than the sharp white flash of a modern round brilliant.

Cushions vary more than any other shape. A standard cushion has smaller facets and a crisper sparkle; a crushed ice cushion has many more, smaller facets that scatter light into a shimmering texture. Antique or elongated cushions read closer to a vintage stone. None is better — they simply look different.

Because the corners are rounded, a cushion is also more resistant to chipping than a princess cut, which makes it a practical choice for daily wear. Handcrafted in 10k, 14k and 18k gold and platinum with IGI-certified lab grown diamonds or moissanite.
