Collection: Pear Engagement Rings
A pear cut is a round brilliant and a marquise combined — rounded at one end, tapering to a point at the other. Like the oval it spreads face-up, so it reads larger than a round of the same weight, and the taper visually lengthens the finger more than any other shape we cut.
Two things matter when choosing one. The first is symmetry: draw an imaginary line through the point and the two halves should mirror each other exactly. Asymmetry is the most common flaw in a poorly cut pear and it is obvious once you notice it. The second is the bow-tie — a dark band across the centre caused by light leakage. Every elongated shape has some; a good cut keeps it faint.
The point is the most vulnerable part of the stone, which is why we recommend a V-prong to shield it on any pear worn daily. Handcrafted in 10k, 14k and 18k gold and platinum with IGI-certified lab grown diamonds or moissanite.
