A pendant is the easiest piece of diamond jewellery to buy for someone else, because there is no sizing to get wrong. The only real decision is chain length, and 18 inches suits the widest range of people and necklines.

Setting choice matters more than most buyers expect. A pendant swings and knocks against clothing all day, far more than a ring does, so a bezel setting is the more practical choice for smaller stones. Above roughly 0.75ct, prongs let in enough extra light to be worth the slightly higher maintenance.
