Oval Earrings

An oval stone in an earring does the same thing it does in a ring: it presents more surface area face-up than a round of the same weight, so it reads larger on the lobe for the same carat cost.

Orientation changes the effect. Set lengthways the oval elongates and draws the eye down; set east-west it reads wider and more contemporary. Both suit different faces, and it is worth seeing the two before choosing.
